Paul C. Taylor, Ph.D., is Chief Economist of the National Automobile Dealers Association's Industry Analysis, where he oversees NADA's industry analysis activities, which include research on a wide range of factors impacting the retail automotive industry and publishing NADA's annual compilation of facts and figures, titled NADA DATA. He will also serve as spokesperson for the association on economic and business issues.

On Christmas Day, our Rotary colleague and club board member Norm Coe suffered a stroke. He was admitted to Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville and remained in the Intensive Care Unit until New Year's Eve. His wife, Sally, left us a message that he's doing better, but had lost feeling in his left arm and hand. He's in good spirits and remarked to Sally that it was a good thing there wasn't a Rotary meeting next week because he would have to miss! Many of you know that Norm has DECADES of perfect attendance, so he's very motivated to make a speedy recovery.

The Rotary Foundation of Washington, DC's Annual Fund Drive is underway and your contributions to our local Foundation will be a worthy gift indeed. The Foundation awards grants to over 50 organizations that serve worthy causes in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, including sheltering and feeding the homeless, providing needed healthcare services for senior citizens and educational assistance to at-risk students. The Club's international projects also receive a portion of the Foundation's annual distributions. In addition, our local Foundation funds several Rotary Club activities including RYLA, Career Fair and Trees for the Capital.

During the winter season, the University Club's policy regarding inclement weather is as follows:
"The University Club will remain open unless the District of Columbia City Government declares a snow emergency and shuts down."
This will be the Rotary Club's policy regarding weekly Wednesday luncheon meetings.

onday through Friday, the dress code in the Club is "business casual." Business casual for men, is defined as creased slacks (no denim), collared shirt (polo/dress shirt) and non-athletic shoes which is acceptable throughout the Clubhouse except in the Taft Dining Room for lunch and dinner, where a jacket is required for men. (Note: A jacket is not required in the Taft during the Memorial Day-Labor Day timeframe!) Comparable attire is required for ladies (no denim).
